Adobe Photoshop, one of the world’s most iconic photo editing tools, has finally made its way to mobile devices. Despite being a dominant force in digital design for over three decades, Photoshop had never been available as a dedicated mobile app—until now.
On Tuesday, Adobe officially announced the launch of Photoshop for mobile, bringing its powerful image editing and design capabilities to smartphones. Designed from the ground up with a mobile-first approach, the app offers an intuitive, user-friendly interface that is accessible to everyone. Best of all, it’s free to download, and users can enjoy several in-app features at no cost.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the creative power of Photoshop to mobile devices, making its industry-leading tools available to everyone—from professional designers and artists to a new generation of creators exploring Photoshop for the first time,” said Ashley Still, Adobe’s Senior Vice President of Digital Media.
The app is rolling out on iPhones starting today, with an Android version expected to arrive later this year. The free version of the app is impressively feature-rich, offering a range of core Photoshop tools, including image composition, blending, selection, layers, and masks. It also includes the spot healing brush and access to thousands of free Adobe Stock assets.
Even more exciting is that free users can also take advantage of Generative Fill and Generative Expand, two AI-powered features supported by Adobe Firefly. These cutting-edge tools, which have gone viral on social media, allow users to seamlessly extend images beyond their original boundaries or remove unwanted elements with just a few taps.
Another standout feature is Tap Select, which simplifies the selection process on mobile. Instead of manually outlining objects using tools like the Lasso, users can simply tap on an object to select and edit it instantly.
For those concerned about navigating Photoshop’s extensive toolset on a smaller screen, Adobe has clearly put a lot of thought into usability. A hands-on demo of the app showcased an interface that feels clean, accessible, and well-structured. Even for beginners who may find the desktop version overwhelming, the mobile app provides a much more approachable and streamlined experience.
Since Photoshop Mobile is fully integrated with Adobe Creative Cloud, users can effortlessly sync their work with Adobe Express, Adobe Fresco, and Adobe Lightroom. Additionally, Photoshop on the web has been updated to serve as a seamless extension of the mobile app, allowing users to transition between devices with ease—even if they don’t have the desktop version installed.
To unlock the full experience, Adobe is offering a Photoshop Mobile and Web plan for $7.99 per month or $69.99 per year. This subscription grants access to premium features, including enhanced Firefly AI tools like Generate Similar and Reference Image, over 20,000 fonts, as well as advanced editing tools such as Object Select, Magic Wand, Remove Tool, and Clone Stamp.
For existing subscribers of Photoshop’s desktop plans, access to Photoshop on mobile—including all premium features—will now be included.
With this long-awaited mobile launch, Adobe is bringing the power of Photoshop to users wherever they are—whether they’re professional designers or first-time creators experimenting with digital art.
